Malden Avenue East Rings
from Structural Series #1: Decomposition
1999
sterling silver, chinese lantern pods, copper, enamel, fine silver
each approx. 1.5” x 1” x .5”
Three rings made from and inspired by chinese lantern pods found growing out of a crack in the sidewalk on Malden Avenue East on Capitol Hill in Seattle, WA.
Two rings feature natural, untreated chinese lantern pods--one fully intact and sporting the bright orange skin that these pods are known for, and one whose orange flesh has been eaten away naturally by wind and rain. The third ring is built by hand from sterling, fine silver, copper and enamel, and kiln fired to an organic orange peel texture.
The tallest ring measures approximately 1.5" x 1" x .5"
These rings come in a handmade custom cherry wood shadow box to display the rings on a wall or a shelf.
